Yihong HSU
Yihong Hsu paints natural forms, seeds, branches, leaves, magnified into layered abstractions: "a perspective I like to imagine when I sketch ideas," in her own words, "by magnifying these natural elements I reveal patterns, textures, and vitality that often goes unnoticed at a human scale." Born in Seoul to a third-generation Chinese immigrant family and educated in America from elementary school through college, she took her BA in graphic design at the Maryland Institute College of Art and an MA in design management at Hongik University's IDAS, and is now permanently based in Hong Kong. Her own phrase for the work is fragile yet strong, and the pieces hold both at once.
